GDM GHOST Series Buyer's Guide: GHOST vs GHOST2

What every Ghost and GHOST2 has in common

  • DOT FMVSS-218 certified full face protection.
  • A lightweight composite poly-alloy shell in matte black with a clearcoat finish.
  • 5 points of ventilation at the chin, forehead and rear.
  • A flush-fit, optically correct, scratch-resistant face shield with UV protection.
  • A removable, washable liner and cheek pads that are hypoallergenic and antimicrobial.
  • A double D-ring chin strap and a helmet bag.
  • An intermediate oval fit, the most common head shape.

How the Ghost and GHOST2 differ

Shell and look

The original Ghost has a sporty rear spoiler. The GHOST2 uses a different shell with a side-coverless shield design, and it shares its shield, cheek pads and liner with the GDM VENOM. That matters when you need parts: the Ghost uses the GDM GHOST shield, while the GHOST2 uses the GDM VENOM shield.

Bluetooth headset

The Bluetooth versions of the Ghost come with the GDM SuperSonic, a Bluetooth 5.0 headset for calls, music, GPS and voice commands, with up to 12 hours of talk time and 120 hours of standby. The GHOST2 Bluetooth comes with the GDM HyperSonic, which adds a 2-rider intercom that works with another HyperSonic. In every case the headset comes in the box and installs in the helmet's speaker pockets in a few minutes; it isn't pre-installed.

Sizes

The Ghost Full Face comes in S to XL. Every other version comes in S to XXL. Check the helmet size chart before you order.

Which one should you buy?

  • New rider on a budget: the Ghost Full Face. Add a headset later if you want one.
  • Solo commuter who wants GPS and music: the Ghost with Bluetooth Headset.
  • Rides in changing light: the GHOST Bluetooth with 4 Shields, so you always have the right shield.
  • Rides two-up or with a friend: the GHOST2 with Bluetooth Headset for intercom chat. Add a second HyperSonic headset for your passenger.
  • Already own a headset: the GHOST2 Full Face for the newer shell, or the Ghost Full Face to save money.

Ghost vs GHOST2 FAQ

Is the GHOST2 better than the Ghost?

Not better, just different. Both are DOT certified with the same ventilation and liner features. The GHOST2 has a different shell, comes in XXL in every version, and its Bluetooth version includes an intercom.

Can I add Bluetooth to a Ghost Full Face later?

Yes. Add a GDM SuperSonic or HyperSonic headset anytime.

Do Ghost and GHOST2 shields interchange?

No. The Ghost uses the GHOST shield, and the GHOST2 uses the VENOM shield.

Is the Bluetooth built into the helmet?

No. The headset comes in the box and mounts to the helmet with the included hardware, so it's easy to charge, replace or move.
